My name is Emily, and in addition to working for an investment management firm and being a single mother to my five-year-old son, I am obsessed with fashion.  I’ll be honest, it can be tough to roll out of bed each morning at 5:30 am when the alarm goes off, but putting together a new (hopefully fabulous) look each day makes it more fun to wake up and gives me the confidence to tackle anything that is thrown my way.  I created this blog to share these looks and other fashion thoughts and ideas and, if I’m lucky, to inspire others.  We’re all busy, whether it be with work, kids, school, volunteering or taking care of all of the details of life, but I truly believe fashion is an indulgence we all owe ourselves, even if only on special occasions, since it allows us to express who we are or make a statement in a single glance, even when we may have to struggle for our voices to be heard…

So that’s my mission statement.  Uplifting, huh?  Even if it’s not, I want this blog to be fun!  When I was in law school, we joked there was no par-tay like an ex parte (basically, when you go to the judge on your own without involving the other party to the dispute AND, admittedly, one of those jokes only attorneys find hilarious), so I thought that concept best captured an attorney’s attempt to have a fun take on fashion.  (And I promise, after that, no more lawyer jokes!)

A few final details about me … I’m originally from Texas, but I’ve lived in Los Angeles for the past 16 years.  I travel a lot for work (and when I can, for fun), and I try to get ideas/reactions from wherever I go to build a wardrobe that works in a lot of different places for a number of different occasions.  So wherever you’re located and whatever you may be doing, I’m hopeful you’ll find something here that you’ll want to try.
